Rick Zinbarg

Rick Zinbarg, chair of Department of Psychology

Dr. Zinbarg has been specializing in the treatment and study of anxiety, panic and depression since 1989. He has trained with several luminaries in the field including David H. Barlow and Edna Foa. Dr. Zinbarg is also currently the Chair of the Psychology Department at Northwestern University and has published more than 130 scientific articles, chapters and books on anxiety, panic, depression and clinical methodology. Research interests include: personality traits that might act as vulnerability factors to the development of anxiety and depressive disorders including the cognitive and affective processes that might mediate these associations; psychotherapy for anxiety disorders including both cognitive-behavior therapy and mindfulness approaches; prevention of anxiety and depressive disorders; the structure and measurement of anxiety and related affects; measurement and psychometric theory.
