Adelaide Ray Young is a junior Theatre major and French minor from Colorado. In 2021 Adelaide was awarded an Undergraduate Research Grant for her project Making the Invisible Visible: Creating an Accurate Portrayal of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) in Film. Using Hamlet as inspiration she wrote her first full-length screenplay which challenged current media portrayals of OCD and included accurate portrayals of treatment, something that is often lacking in the existing media. She was awarded the Fletcher Prize for Outstanding Undergraduate Research and was able to continue her work on OCD representation in film this past summer with an advanced grant. Adelaide is currently on the Advisory Council for the Office of Undergraduate Research as a representative of the arts. She is excited to learn more about crafting accurate and productive portrayals of mental health issues through the Pritzker Pucker Studio Lab.
